Casablanca Gets Wavy With Its Debut Atlantis Sneaker

After a series of footwear collaborations with New Balance, Casablanca is back with its own first Atlantis sneaker. Named after the ancient city said to have disappeared beneath the waves, Atlantis incorporates aquatic elements into the Parisian brand's unique blend of sporty design codes and luxurious materials.

Despite only being founded in 2018, Casablanca has already earned itself a place on the high horse of contemporary fashion brands, making clothes for a good lifestyle, combining elements of decades-old nostalgia with a level of hype that is necessarily grounded in the present. Casablanca's relative youth has not slowed its meteoric rise in the consciousness of the fashion intelligentsia and the world's richest people, from Jeff Bezos and French Montana to Draymond Green and Justin Beiber, who have seen it all.

While the New Balance x Casablanca XC-72's released last year sold out almost immediately, fans didn't have to wait long for the brand to release a sneaker with its own name on it. Available in red and blue colorways, the Atlantis features a perforated leather and suede upper that references the classic tennis shoe, but the midsole is where the real action is.

With a wave-like EVA foam midsole unit that's impossible to ignore, the shoe's shape echoes the Atlantis name and ends with a rugged, rippled rubber outsole. The debut sneaker, which first appeared in Casablanca's Fall/Winter 2022 lookbook, was inspired by founder Charaf Tajer and artistic director Steve Grimes.

While Atlantis may be too strong a statement for some, the new shoe is the perfect blend of the sporty style Casablanca is known for, offering a chic alternative to the tried-and-true chunky sneaker. While Casablanca hasn't confirmed the price, you can expect to pay quite a bit more for yourself to get them.
